Certainly the mindcomet site is an example of too much going on and no real focus. Not only from a usability standpoint, but from a marketing and design standpoint as well.

Of the other sites you mention, Kyle, there are none which address the issue of pure product marketing. I will try to find some examples of sites which create a valuable product marketing tool while providing easy access to the main function. One or two I can think of off hand would be ecommerce oriented like Crate and Barrel and the Williams-Sonoma site.

Also, a useful tool for examining usability AND design exapmples is http://www.coolhomepages.com which breaks sites into various categories.
