re: portable usability labs |

We did a pretty thorough review of the field last summer, and a one-week pilot test of three leading systems.
There are strengths and weaknesses to all the candidates, but we selected the MiniDV-ULab from UsabilitySystems.com with some custom modifications (radio controls rather than IR, two cameras rather than one, quieter Sony cameras)
We have been very satisfied with this portable lab and with the service from the vendor. I give this lab a big "thumbs up" all the way around.
The Norm Wilcox rig has fewer cables and packs into fewer cases for shipping. But its fit and finish is a little crude, kind of a "garage band" look. Out custom-built MiniDV-ULab matches the Norm Wilcox lab feature for feature, and it sports a big HD monitor, and a much nicer "James Bond" look. :-)
The look has more value than simple vanity or styling. I believe it actually raises face validity during our research -- so participants feel they are in more professional hands.
