Righteous & Wicked
I am currently doing some research as part of my part-time Ph. D. dissertation work at Virginia Tech. I am interested in the concept of how applications and other information systems can be designed for PDAs, cell phones, tablets etc. so that users can transition from one device to another without having adverse effects on their understanding of the core system. The domain I have selected is news websites, which are the most frequently visited sites on the web and serve as an ideal platform to test out various theories. A part of the research deals with profiling how users gather news in day-to-day life especially when it comes to getting news online. In order to collect related data, a survey has been designed to serve as a starting point for the research. It would be really helpful if you could fill out the survey and/or if you could forward it to anyone who might be interested in assisting me or my research group by filling it out.

P.S. : The survey will take about 15-25 minutes depending on the level of detail you include in your responses.

P.P.S: If anyone has more information on how users browse news site, please let me know. PM me or sign my GB.

We(Research group at VT) are planning to extend the ways people can get news. We have 42 inch plasma display which I am planning to use with RF ids. Based on the users present in the room and their preferences, the news can be restructured for maximum coverage. The concept can be extended to advertising as well.
