Hi Jeremy,
I agree with Janna. I don't have the numbers to back this up, but I think that any additional information, especially information that the user doesn't see the point in sharing or is highly personal (i.e. s.s.# or credit card #), brings down the likely hood of the registration being completed.

If a credit card number is needed, but the reason for it is not obvious than I would suggest telling the user why you are requiring this information. It may slightly increase the rate of completion.
