Apr 17, 2006 5:11 am Citibank free ticket – taking for a ride?

Ashis Dutta
Sometime back Citibank offered a free domestic air tickets on purchase of every Rs. 30,000 on their credit card.

I spent, got the offer and asked for my ticket (to 3 destinations in preference) back in mid. Feb, for flying in end April (3 separate dates of preference).

No news from Citibank.

I called up the number given. They ask me to call another no. I called. They said they shall get back.

I sent e-mail. They reply, someone shall get back to me within 30 days, which means after my proposed date of journey.

Last Wednesday evening I got a call confirming my travel to Ahmedabad (my 3rd. pref.) in a particular date in July.

Hay, wait a minute, I asked for travel on 29th. April (all the 3 preferences are in end April).

But we got ticket for you on xx th. July, please confirm.

That’s preposterous!!

According to the conditions of the offer, it is clearly mentioned, tickers subject to availability. Please confirm travel on xx th. July.

No I shall not. Give me a written communication.

We can’t give you written communication.

End of call.

So now, I am riding, but not on the promised free ticket. I am being taken for a ride by Citibank.

Ashis
