Put yourself in Ramji's shoes for a moment - if you were to lose Rs. 3500 in a similar deal, would you not want it back? Besides, irrespective of the fact that the money was paid to a second broker, you are still party to the transaction - as I understand it, you introduced Ramji to the second broker. If the deal went through, you would have collected a commission (even if it was on a sharing agreement with the other broker) right? In business, one has to be party to the profits and losses and there is no place for excuses claiming helplessness.
