I have about 150 RSS feeds running and think it's completely a no-brainer that everyone should have at least one for every newsletter that they produce.
Think of it as "search engine insurance" meaning it's in the toolbox of finding a way to create traffic without the help from a search engine handoff of the traffic. Once you discover RPC/pinging and how many search engines enjoy scanning your RSS feeds, you may even find rank and search engine inclusion that you could have had otherwise as quickly.
There are many worthwhile purposes for RSS beyond SE insurance and I'm certain we'll see an explosion of RSS integration into almost every publishing platform.
I was just thinking about an article I wrote a year ago on the 22 reason why Email is not Dead and how RSS is not the replacement... It's probably time to update the article now.
Just in case I was the slightest bit wrong in my defending email article, I also launched RSS Universe to better educate myself on how to leverage RSS. Figured there was and is much to learn yet.
