I give Cesar credit for this ... what a good plan! You are rewarding the dog when he is calm and not reinforcing his anxiety. And certainly making eye contact would add to the intimidation.
This little dog must have been through a pretty major trauma. There's a chance he's been microchipped. Though I was surprised to learn that when the owner of a microchipped dog is contacted, if they don't bother to reply or take action, that's that. The dog is no longer theirs. This happened to someone I heard about who found a lost Husky who had been microchipped and the people never followed through. She kept the dog.Private Reply to Ann Rader (new win) |
