Leslie Baldwin
I don't know how the pros do it but I thought I'd post a few things I just learned here.

I asked a group if anyone would help clean and offered up to $40.00.

One lady asked (for pay) and then asked her husband and he didn't want her cleaning houses. Wouldn't have been that bad except I had got into the personal story of why I wanted help.

First volunteer was great but she brought her kids. Well, you know I didn't mind too much but we were dealing with clutter. Not something I want the world to see. And a couple of times the teenager asked me if I really needed something - not out right - but that sort of hesitation like - do you really want this? after I had said keep it.

Next time (if) I have someone help I am going to be firm and say - take several boxes and put everything in a box. You can sort like with like and you can put really trashy stuff in a trash bag, but I'd like the final say on what is trash.

Today I didn't do that and my family spent about an hour going through five trash bags and pulling out dishes, a palm pilot - bridge to a violin, my best lace tablecloth, at least a dozen socks, craft materials and more.

They may of thought they were doing me a favor - but a lace tablecloth? Sigh.

What was really funny was when the mom asked if our bathroom worked - I said it better (like we go out back lol!) Oh when cleanies and messies collide (grin).

Lessons learned - still smiling.
