Kat, I want to commend you on following your heart. I understand the desire to live in the Southern Hemisphere. I loved Brazil and wanted to live in Peru for awhile!!! My family thought that I was crazy when I gave up my day job to set up my own non-profit and travel the world.
I conducted research on the brain and how the brain acquires a second language. I acquired five languages in 2 1/2 years. I lived in 5 countries. It was the best time of my life.
Many of my family and friends kept their distance because they thought that I was going through a mid-life crisis and that I would soon go broke. It was the richest and most rewarding period of my life. I traveled the world for 5 years.
I have now switched gears and I work in the states with schools for 9 months and travel during summer and holidays to developing countries and work. I miss those days of living and enjoying other cultures on a daily basis.
I say you go girl!! Live your dream and don't let anyone stop you!!
