This is a very important message.
YOU are responsible for what you FEED yourself.
That applies to your diet.
It also applies to what you feed your mind.
Everything we learn is influenced by social connections. We find it easier to relate to "people like me". People who share your cultural and religious background for instance.
Generally, we would expect that influence to protect us against falling into serious life traps based on misinformation. But not always. Sometimes the people we expect to be 100% reliable and trustworthy prove to be misguided and wrong. There was a time (here in New Zealand) when I expected that NZ politicians would NEVER lie in public. Sadly, that's no longer the case.
In the USA, there is so much spin and misinformation being deliberately generated, that the information space in which public knowledge is generated is badly poisoned. An information society cannot progress if that is the standard of "information" people rely on.
