Interesting thread, I am still thinking about agreement here on the issue of how a contributor is perceived. For me I am not convinced about taking on gold because the arguments are not convincing. In fact I take very little notice of whether or not a person is a gold member! I feel that the content of the members site is the main factor in my judgement as to their worth. Some of the sites leave me cold and sometimes irritated that I have wasted time looking at them! Rather than believing gold will create the required perception, I would spend time on developing an interesting and appealing site for the audience I want to attract. The most interesting networking that I have done via Ryze has been with exactly the people I wish to do business or connect with. Would I have more if I went gold, maybe – but Ryze is only part of my networking operation and I am happy with the results.
However…. Dean, to take up your comment about photo’s – I will only click through from networks to those who show a photo of themselves – the size makes no difference to me. But if they use cartoons or animation, I pass them by. I am a ‘people person’ and as such like to see the face of whom I am connecting with.
