You do not have to have a "party thingy" to connect with people. In fact, sometimes folks go to parties and don't connect. Connecting is what is important. Not everyone knows "how to" connect - be it in person or online. Many folks actually need help in this area. That is one of the reasons why personal coaching has in fact become an industry. And, a great deal of that personal coaching is done online and over the telephone - not in face-to-face meetings.

Bottom line here is that people need to learn how to successfully network with each other. A physical business mixer is not only a place to learn those skills, but a place to put those skills to real-world use. And, therein lies its value.

I have often said that just because you walk into a piano store does not mean you are able to sit down at a piano and make beautiful music. But, most likely someone else in the store can. And, you just might learn something from watching that person play. So it is with business networking, you need to avail yourself of the atmosphere where business networking is taking place.
