THE LAVENDER FIELDS® ARE OPEN EVERY WEEKEND IN JUNE
San Diego (June 3, 2004)- The Lavender Fields®, a certified organic lavender farm located in the foothills of the Palomar mountains in Northern San Diego County, is open every weekend in June from 10am until 5pm. There are 28 unique varieties and 10,000 plants located at the nine-acre farm. The public is encouraged to come learn about how lavender is grown, distilled, and made into various products from oils and floral water to cremes and lotions.
Owners Ellen Sullivan and Paul Bernhardy started The Lavender Fields® in 1998. Since then, they have constructed a 600 square foot greenhouse used as a nursery, a small workshop to manufacture a line of products, a shed that houses a distiller to produce oil, and a general store which sells the products they make. They look upon their farm as a “work in progress” and really don’t see improvement of the farm as ever being finished.
The Lavender Fields® offers special group tours set up in advance, and offer various classes and workshops as well as special events during their open season.
