Just to widen,
There is a belief among certain villages, to marry two donkeys or two toads to end the long dry spell of drought.
This is considered by rationalist that the actions are "barbaric" , "stone age " and does not have any scientific footing.
How different it is to celebrate a birthday of a dog!

( b.t.w I am a dog lover myself and have positive feeling towards having dogs at home).

Atleast when donkeys are married they attach a tag - "to benefit the community" to it.
