I am not a politician I am not here to defend the PM, CMs or the ministers. Yet in my experience in various fields as a “jack of all trades who mastered none.” Wireless and Telephony played a small part. It was way back during British regime that me and friend late Bala (Vu2LE) who inducted me into Ham radio, built a transmitter in
40 meters frequency 7 mega cycles (renamed Hertz later) and transmitted from Mudukulatur to Paramakudi which was heard in Paramakudi.
Before internet was introduced in India I got a system with 30 MB hard disc with I used Professional word writer in dos prompt and pumped the message in 14 Mega Cycles to another computer in Italy which was nick named “The post office.” The system then was called packet radio and that can be opened by any ham, having a computer connected to the receiver.
24 years back I submitted memo to Assistant Wireless advisor that Radio Spectrum can be used to make communication cheaper as VHS and UHS can replace land line phones. VHS is 200 + Hertz and UHS were 400+ Hertz. The gentleman called me and told me that radio frequency belonged to the state and Defense sector and cannot use by Dot.
Now what we are using in cell phones is called Gega cycles and known as 1G spectrum. After this we have 2 G spectrum and 3G spectrum is also under proposal. Many people think Sam Petroda is a cousin of Quatrocchi and he imported all these equipments from Italy draining the Indian foreign exchange in favor of the then PM’s
Wife. Satyanarayan Gangaram Pitroda was born in Titlagarh Orissa. That started working for the Government of India that his name was understood in ITALICS.
When another rich guy in Telecom ministry Dhayanidhi Maran came and one million cells were given to the common man. After the much maligned Raja took over the ministry 28 million cell phone connections reached mister India. I am not here to defend politicians who made money. I have no complaint against Lord Ganesha who took 108 coconuts from me to send me to college. I still have respect for Lord Murugan who gave an indirect license to have a second wife which did not utilize for want of funds.
People who do not know the meaning 3G spectrum are still screaming. Telecom Minister Raja was probably not born when I was defending the persecuted DMK politicians as their trial lawyer. Somebody can suggest to the media that I would love to meet him and learn more about the Spectrums.
