Cool article.
I know a lot of people have asked me about how to improve their site rankings too. But I don't do it as a profession and just give them advice free.
I usually tell them to just be natural and honest about their sites. The content on your site should reflect what your site is actually about. Do the basics: --include keywords in meta tags --include Alt tags on images --include keywords in page file names and folder names --when you use your keywords in your text, make each sentence/block unique from page to page. Don't copy/paste a paragraph from one page to the next
Simple stuff can have huge results. With just the basics we were able to get our site (look for "Mall23" -- http://www.mall23.com) pretty high on Google in about 5 months: --"ASP Ecommerce" == #3 out of 8.6 mil --"ASP Ecommerce Solution" == #2 out of 6.89 mil --"Ecommerce" == 430 <- but hey, thats out of 57.2 mil :)
