Lamar, Thanks for raising the issue of the Web 2.0 bandwagon.
A few weeks ago, I posted some thoughts on Web 2.0 on my Blog essentially it points out that all the functions of Web 2.0 have been around for awhile and the interactivity found in Web 2.0 were part of the original concept of web founder Tim Berners-Lee.
What we are seeing with sites like squidoo, are self publishing platforms that eliminate the need for any knowledge of web programming. Yes, there is value in providing a soap box for everyone to speak from the underlying challenge is to keep all of this personally relevant. Social bookmarking sites like RambleWeb (shameless self promotion...still in beta)show a value in that, they provide tools that can be private as well as fully public as is the case of similar sites.
Much of the hype around Web 2.0 has been that you are sharing information with others when, there are times when you don't want to share but would like to have distributed access without being tied to your personal computer.
The real value in Web 2.0 has yet to be realized.
