I have both problems!
Weight..... I have been ultra skinny all my life, but as soon as I hit 50, I spread in all directions. I tried all the diets to no avail so I eventually wrote my own diet, that has helped me lose weight and keep it off. I guess like Ron, you have to find what works for you and starving definitely didn't work for me (I love my food too much!) Now I am sharing this diet with others on a membership basis, which invloves four weeks of changing one's eating habits. We will be combining this with various experts to assist members to understand diet and nutrition, exercise, massage and wardrobe sense, hence the name of our program is The Total Approach.
Fear of the telephone..... as a shy person, I would break out in a cold sweat every time I had to speak - in public and on the phone. I hate the telephone, preferring e-mail. One of the reasons for this is that I was born in Africa and therefore have a Colonial accent. I find that people don't listen to me..... they just listen to the accent (Damnit, Jim!)
I found that typing up a script and using that as the basis for my calls, I soon got into the swing of how to 'lead' the conversation, without it sounding as tho it was a script. Once that was mastered, I was able to chop and change according to the answers given by the other side and pretty soon I was OK with the phone. I say 'OK' because no-one actually likes cold or intitiating calls and if they say that they do, they're only fooling themselves into believing so. But, whatever works!
Ron, if you have this fear of the telephone and find that in time, you are not getting over it, why not employ someone else to do this for you? You might find that you are better suited to doing something else that generates more revenue and are able to pay someone else less to do the calls. Just a thought!

>See, this is one of the problems of this medium. There are a bunch of questions to ask, but you have to ask them one at a time, since the answer to the first drives you to the next question.
