Blew it yesterday when my daughter threw me a curve about a speech team awards gathering! But, it was worth it.

LOL yah, true Barney may not work with them in the least. So you did good today! EXCELLENT! What are you going to do now? :) Give me one small step towards what you originally posted that you are going to do today.

I believe that within the next three months, you can get to where you want to be, and stay there. What my thought is, how can you take a small amount of time everyday, to break up the things that you'd like to accomplish? You can get there sooner if you like too :).

> >

You say you'd like better time management. What does that mean to you? Really ... Exactly how would you like to manage your time better? Pick through the things that you feel are time consuming and then perhaps delegate. The kids are old enough to help around the house, ignore if they should say anything like aaaaaaaw MOM! :) Course they may already be helping. So I could be way off.

I have something that I do. I talk about what I need to do out loud. I hear myself saying things and I really pay attention, finally I begin to hear a pattern of where I'm needing the improvement. Then I start looking for ways to improve on whatever it is that I want to change. You already know exactly what you want. So you are WAY ahead of the game. Give me "one" small thing that you'd like to do today towards what you want to accomplish. I'll bet you get that done in no time. How about the junk mail? Music, sort, chuck and make a pile for the filing. Turn the ringer off, leave the machine on and screen who calls you. If it's an emergency you'll know. If it's someone you can call back, do so. You don't even have to tell the person you were there :). This way you don't have to feel bad, if you should, in not answering the phone. What do you think? Wanna try it? I call these baby steps. OR if you like, call a friend and sift through the junk mail while your talking. If it's just junk you'll be able to talk and enjoy yourself and you'll have company :) Sort, chuck, and chat.

Whatcha think? Trust me you are not alone in this endeavor. People find new ways to manage their time, all the time. :) OK! Ready! Set! GO!!! Keep me posted! I can't wait to hear how well you're doing.

I know how you feel with distractions. Turn the ringer off, give yourself a couple hours and leave the computer off. Turn on your favorite music, and decide that "today's the day!" The kids, unless bleeding profusely (god forbid) will be fine until you're finished. I swear!

I have a daughter and when I am on the phone or have something to do, the rules are that the less I get interupted the sooner I'll get done and be available to her. Same goes for the phone. I explain to her that I need time to do grown up things. Barring having a very small child, like an infant, this can be done. Give the kiddies a project or pop in a movie until you do what you need to. You'll feel better and they'll get to use their imaginations etc., or relax and see that movie you may not be interested in watching. My daughter still loves Barney, so she'll watch that and I'll get my stuff done. :) Hope this helps.

What goal do you want to accomplish in the next 3 months? What are possible first steps you can take toward that goal? What might prevent you from taking that first step?
