Yes, for me taking a break works. I find that when I get overwhelmed that I should stop what I am doing and revisit it when I can think more clearly.
For me music works, I've said that over and over :) and I'll answer some e-mails, do something totally different for a bit, perhaps even a day until I can find a fresh perspective on it. A lot of times it helps not to push too hard when a break is called for because it won't be the your best work.
