Apr 14, 2004 12:08 am Sure... An exercise for everyone...

Uhm ... Sure I'll play. Ok I read this entire thing and I have a question. So what you are saying, Is to pick a post that we have already answered. And re-answer it differently ... to see if we can be more clear? Is that right?

We all have different writing & posting styles, as you've no doubt noticed. I'd like to propose an exercise...

I'd like you to take one of your posts - here or elsewhere - and re-do it, in the way that you think the people here would be most receptive to. Note: Not the way you speak, but the way our audience hears (or reads)

As a guide, take how others post as a guide as to how they like to see information. For example, you've probably noticed that I use direct language and keep my paragraphs very short.

Also, note how people quote - or don't quote - posts they respond to. Take note of the general level of vocabulary, grammar and jargon.

Now, once you've done that... post the original, preceded by the rewrite - in one post.

Then answer these questions:

What did you learn from doing this? How might this change the way you communicate over the phone, on sales calls, in person?

So, is anyone game to try this?
