les ombres de bleu
A few tiny little books, I always love to sit with...

"Tipping Point – Malcolm Gladwell {Management/Non-F}
=====================================================
The Tipping point, as the name implies, is that magic moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire.
This book’s all about how seemingly small insignificant changes dramatically changes the whole situation, how they can make a big difference. ..one such case study is : the Police chief of NY bringing down the crime rate in Subways by merely making sure “NO graffiti” was allowed ever to stay on Trains for more than 2 hours. The seemingly small change created an impression that things were in control, the whole system was running efficiently and as a result of this enhanced perceptions, there was a dip in crime
incidents.….
It also dwells upon the "self organizing networks", the ability of individuals to form relationships and self -organize around shared interests, with a few acting like "hubs", who happens to posses this knack of knowing, maintaining consistent interaction with a large no. Of individuals and being the essential component in spreading information…..ranging from computer networks to social groups. An interesting phenomenon (Hush Puppies, suddenly a rage!) on how a set of individuals, unconsciously defines fads and spread the same, termed as "cool cats or
cool hunters"…dwelling on Social network more as a mix of sociological n psychological trend, aimed at the “need to belong to a community", "a sense of
affinity", which draws an aspirational value.

@Love Marks – Kevin Roberts {Advertising/Non-F}
=================================================
Written by the CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Worldwide, who says, Brand names are out, Love Marks are in! Love-Marks, an element of sensuality and mystery, and touch on the deepest human desires. It’s a love affair between the brand and the consumer. It’s about creating an emotional hook around the brand, which is more a humanoid and relatable term. Products/Services are branded to create differentiation and provide an aspirational value to the consumer..Don’t you feel the difference between wearing Nike and a local brand of sneakers? How to reinforce the emotional value/experiential value around the brand? Brands should transcend their existence and to become the “lovemarks” in one’s life
Something that’s closer to us, Santro is the Sunshine car, “Sunshine” is the lovemark and it carries many more renditions to the consumer and differentiates the brand from others in his mind space...the brightness, the youthfulness, the fresh approach to life, being peppy!

Lovemarks – simply is the future beyond brands, the inspiration behind the idea!
The book is Sporty and Edgy in terms of its language, tone; full of warmth, unlike most Management/Advertising books who tend to be preachy and cold (clinical, would say)

@To Kill A Mocking Bird - Harper Lee (Fiction}
================================================
One of the perennial classics, which portrays a child’s view of her world, a lilting journal of her child hood! This classic is an experience, I’d never get bored of!

It carries such a rich aura of chilhood’s innocence, and I thought this book’s all about a few kids and the cluster of trees in their backyard and their observation on the Mocking bird {this was before I could read the excerpt!}

Don’t know why I always feel like seeing or touching this book when I am depressed ! such an indelible mark it’d left on me ..am sure on most us !

I used to reiterate the theme all the time, “Shoot all the blue jays you want, if you can hit 'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird". It’s truly a celebration of childhood innocence and its coming-of-age {the secrets of childhood and the pangs of growing up!}
Humorously written an exploration of the conscience and irrationality of adult behavior in a racially divided society through the child’s eyes..
Endearing are those childhood memories, fantasies, curiosities {the mystery man Boo Radley) and the tiny treasures they get as part of their play. Its about the child, who keeps discovering her dad’s talents and there begins the “hero worship!, she and her Atticus", the child’s admiration for her dad’s struggle for justice!
