Maybe, if u start discussing with her something that is found in a magazine or newspaper.. or u can start with by asking her to read a small piece and give her opinion... also encourage her to do puzzles, crossword or sudoko and slowly lead her to reading light pieces and then she herself will start shwoing interest to read more...
But in reality, the advent of television has slowly killed the reading habits of people.. especially the younger generation.... i still remember, how I would eagarly wait for my father to bring home the latest edition of 'Punthalir,' a tamil version of tinkle in late 80's. Also he was subscrbing to 'The Hindu paper' and thus reading habit caught on with me... today television, cell phone and internet have literally taken over all the teenagers' time that they are unable to read anything apart from school or college books.
By the way.. I finished 'Shantharam' few months back and is living with "My Experiments With Truth" by Gandhiji now.
