A couple other things that I've seen people dervies a great deal of benefit from over the years in the clinic are worth mentioning. Magnet therapy has been very effective for reducing or negating severe pain for some people. I forget the exact gauss magnet one needs to use but you might want to contact a chiropractor or acupuncturist who would have access to clinical strength magnets designed for such use.
Nutritional deficiencies can play a big part in these syndromes, particularly B6 and 12. Many of the patients I have seen with this problem have been vegetarians and the problem was only remedied when they included meat in their diet. Also, coffee, you hate to hear it folks, but this beloved stimulant tends to disrupt our bodies natural antiinflammatory cycles and thus disable our ability to repair sites of frequent stress.
Finally, application of mentholated balms i.e. Tiger Balm or Ben Gay several times a day often provide some relief. Oils of St. Johns Wort (a wonderful anti-inflammatory,not just for depression) and arnica, commonly found in health food stores, are also valuable tools in combating this malady.
