Gayle,
You noted:
“I have benefited many times in the past from the mentorship of others and find that the rewards for being a mentor are also great. Some of those rewards are intangible...the good feeling of seeing someone do well because of the guidance I've given them...sometimes it is substantial, my reputation is increased because of the loyalty of my proteges...”
This is a wonderful example of why being a mentor is so wonderful. Obviously the reasons to mentor are not selfish: helping others succeed, but it can be also very rewarding. Aside from the goodwill you feel, your Mentees can go on to help you in the future and become testaments to your abilities.
Gayle, I also wanted to point out how finding a Mentor in graphic design was in the past much more difficult if you didn’t have the right connections. Now with Advance Mentoring, people are able to meet Mentor and Mentees for graphic design, and every other industry, where matching resources were limited before.
Good luck!
Noah
