Hello everyone - I am originally from and still living in my hometown of Saratoga Springs, NY with my wife, two kids, two dogs, and my cat. My only real time away was during college at the eastern shore of MD and a one year hiatus to Park City, UT (to sort things out before I committed to responsible activities...).
I began working in our family business 10 years ago with my father; at that time, we provided regional land surveying services. After becoming a licensed land surveyor 3 years ago, we grew 260% by adding several additional services. Despite the core company being founded in 1981, I now find myself in a strange hybrid "start up"-ish company. I am constantly looking for opportunities to change the face of very old industries, like land surveying, engineering, etc, and have been trying to maintain a certain respectfully indignant view of the business landscape. We are now positioning ourselves for another large growth period about which I am very, well, excited, nervous, resigned to, etc.
What have I learned? I offer several of many:
1. I was told some years that things take time, and they are not to be rushed. This is unacceptable to me!
2. if I am not in a state of change, then I am very, very uncomfortable.
3. It is important to be good at execution, but better at recovery.
4. there is no problem worth losing sleep over, it will still be there in the moring.
I look forward to getting to know everyone.
