1/ I'm one of those people that sees opporunities and likes to move with them. I saw an opportunity some years ago to have a lifestyle business. It didn't last long as a lifestyle and is now bigger than me. I have 2 children, a toddler and a soon to be teen. I do try for worklife balance but I tend to get carried away on one thing and then swing back the other way. I love diversity and pressure. Life is quite dull without it.
2/ I am currently working towards licencing Admincorp Ltd. Next year I will probably leave the business to the staff. I'm looking to do some creative hobbies next (photography and digital art). I also want to look at international/internet research possibilities. One thing I'm really good at is drilling down in information.
3/ One lesson I've learned is to get rid of the bad quickly. NZ employment law does not allow for a trial period as such where you can call it quits with a new employee if they aren't working out. You need to go through disciplinary processes which can take a lot of time and money. I did this once, now I have a policy that I work with new staff and if it's not for them we assist them to find what does best suit them. Quickly. Its cheaper to pay them to look for a more suitable job for a few weeks than go through a lengthy disciplinary process that may not work anyway.
