Dear Sir Crow
Concerning renewable energy we can develop in Burkina Faso my country I noticed the followings :
- Jatropha plantation to extract biodiesel from its seeds. Its leaves and seeds are also natural fertilizers we can use for agriculture. There is a big project held by a traditional local leader about this opportunity - Manioc (cassava) plantation to extract biocarburant from its juice. We use the pulp and the leaves as food through all Western Africa’s countries. - Sugar cane plantation to extract a biocarburant called ethanol from its juice. We also use the cane to produce alcohol and beverages. - Solar energy : this is the biggest opportunity for renewable energy in the country. We have sunlight 12 hours everyday and 12 months a year particularly from February to May. Solar energy panels we have on the local markets are too dear for us. They are mainly manufactured in Germany. That is why solar energy is not developed at all in African countries. But since last two years we start receiving cheap panels made in China. Nowadays we buy electrical power from Ivory Coast and Ghana for our needs. In Burkina Faso we use mainly thermic power stations for producing the power energy because we don’t have enough water to use hydroelectric ones. So the electrical energy we produce is the dearest of the area.
I would like you to choose the opportunities you are interested in among these I have listed ahead. But as I am not an expert in environment I can’t write a project for your needs. So your financial support will be needed to hire local consultants for writing down reliable projects you are going to run over here.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
