thanks.Private Reply to stranger | Mar 17, 2009 4:26 pm | | re: Sholingar | # | Muralidharan Bashyam | | Sholingar is a small place. So we cannot expect accomadation. Its like Tiruttani hill. But more foot steps than tiruttani.
Narasimhar is the God of the temple.
The best way to go from Chennai is by train. you will have to get down at Arakkonam. Number of buses go to Sholingar to Arakkonam.
Journey time may be approximately 3 hours from Chennai to Shoilngar.
Chennai - Arakkonam (Train) 1.45 Hrs. and 1 hour from Arokkonam to Sholingar. About 40 Kms i believe.
One must be very careful to climb steps you may see our ancestors(monkeys). Unless you disturb them, they dont harm you.
If Car, you can even cover tiruttani. Travel time may be 2-3 hours to sholingar.
Bus journey is not worth, One full day will be wasted if anybody wants to venture by bus from Chennai.
From Tambaram means its is better to go by cab. The route is Padappai or vallakottai, Sriperambadur, Arakkonam, Sholingar.Private Reply to Muralidharan Bashyam | Mar 18, 2009 5:13 am | | re: re: Sholingar | # | padmanabhan ramasubban | | "Narasimhar is the God of the temple"
"Anjaneyar temple is next to the Narasimhar temple"
Narasimhar temple is at the top you need to climb may be around 1000 steps (unable to recollect exactly)It is quite climb .so please carry water with you as you may need it after you reach the temple.
Anjaneyar temple is slightly easier to climb ,but take a small break between the two climbs.
Expect to get sore muscles in legs next day,so make the climb slowly. While coming down from Narasimha temple please be careful as the steps are steep and gravity will push you.
Happy darshan!Private Reply to padmanabhan ramasubban | Mar 18, 2009 3:11 pm | | re: re: Sholingar | # | stranger | | Thanks a lot Muraliji and Padmanabhanji for the info. Sholingur trip is temporarily postponed, as one of my friend informed me that renovation works are going on at the Yoga Narasimhar Temple, darshan of Utsavar is only possible and the temple is waiting for Kumbabishekam to be performed shortly.Private Reply to stranger | Mar 27, 2009 11:58 pm | | re: Sholingar | # | padmanabhan ramasubban | | Good you enquired first to know the present status first.
But during summer the steps would be too hot to climb with out footwear,so plan to climb early in the morning!
