Meeta, a good place is Out of the Blue...it is in the area at the end of Carter road, bandra where lots of food places have come up. If I remember correctly, it is in or next to Pali Hotel.
Great food and great ambience too.

Shatranj Napoli nearby is also usually recommended but on a recent visit I found the food and service both abysmal.

Restaurant 5 on SV road, khar is also good, the food is really nice there.

of course, if your budget permits then there are all the big hotels with some really good restaurants. I went to The Mabruk at the Sahara Star recently and the spread for the Sunday brunch was just superb!

mangi Fera in the by lanes of Juhu scheme is also a lovely place, great ambience and really good food.

Have tried BBQ nation

the starters are awesome and nice concept of grilling right on ur table

rest of the buffet is strictly okay. the biryani had gone sour somehow and there was an after taste in it

salads were good too.

-----

tried White - goregaon, Italian food

Quantity - good VFM
food quality - soups , drinks, starters , antipasti good
the maincourse -not too many options for veg, cannelloni was bland tho the sauce was good
and my mushroom pasta had few pieces of mushrooms which weren't cooked at all.
ambiance - nice

overall an okay joint

Tried Shatranj Napoli - Seven bungalows

Waiters are too messed up, they wont take your properly, or even forget the things they had recommended

we ordered - 1 pasta, 1 pizza which the waiter recommended, 1 gnocchi, 2 indian dishes and a round of drinks with starters

after about 45 minutes we get drinks, after reminding the waiter what we had ordered. The starters were superb, and by now we were very hungry...

after another half hour, our indian food arrived but the three of us who had ordered the italian stuff had to wait.

another 20 minutes and we fire the waiter for not getting pizzas or pastas ... he tells us if we had ordered it in teh first place.
checks his order list and tells us , he forgot...

cool another 20 min and we are served pizza, pasta (different from what we ordered), gnocchi (different from what we ordered)
we return the dishes. make over for the same dishes and the dishes are back to us.

finally the bill.. we promptly refuse to pay for the italian food and simply pay for the indian khana ...
apologies from the staff and restaurant manager.

we move to the roadside bhurji pao stall...
