I saw this cool video and thought about you and what you might want to do with your Twitter contacts. I mean, you might want an easy way to increase your followers. Then, after a period of time, you might want a cost-effective way of removing all the folks who were not following you in return. What is called a "greasemonky script" is what makes that possible. Want to see the video that shows you what this script can do? Click here. I find the narrator of this script has a dry sense of humor. Enjoy.

Yes, just amassing a large number of followers is not going to be very beneficial. But, amassing an audience of fans is a smart move. Being able to follow folks who have something which can benefit your business or your life in general is also a smart move. Twitter makes both possible. Grease Monkey scrips make that process more efficient. If you did not see the video clip I posted above, here it is again - click here. This actually shows you what can be accomplished with Grease Monkey scripts. If you use the Firefox browser, there is actually a special plug-in for Grease Monkey that needs to be installed.

Since you are a web designer, you may be able to answer a question for me. I just noticed that someone who is a member of my Twitter audience is using a video clip for her Twitter picture. How did Tiffany Dow do that? (While I have made an inquiry to her via a Tweet bout this, I have yet to get feedback.) This video clip placement may be relatively easy to do if you know how to do it. Nevertheless, I think Tiffany's approach does indeed stand out and get your attention.

Twitter is fast. It did not take long for Tiffany to respond with an explanation on how to create that video avatar of herself. She actually wrote a blog post about it. For those who would like to do what Tiffany did, simply visit Tiffany's blog and you too will know how to create a Twitter video avatar.

Since you are looking for some good Web 2.0 resources, let me give you a few:

1) Get on the SpeakerNetNews Mailing List. The only thing required for being on the list is the submission of a business tip once-a-quarter. That's a real good deal - especially if you would like to establish a meaningful connection with the National Speakers Association.

2) Create for yourself a Twitwall. Then, invite other folks to contribute to the contents of your wall. In fact, feel free to check out my wall. Click the feedback button and add something wonderful to my wall. That something wonderful could be a picture, video or even news of a special event. By all means, be creative. As you know, Web 2.0 innovation is all about allowing other folks to submit the content that draws attention to you. A Twitwall can do that rather effectively.

3) Again, speaking of Twitter-related applications, check out Tweetworks. Since you are involved in marketing, you would most-likely enjoy the forum called "Marketing 2.0."

4) If you have yet to use Squidoo and connect your Squidoo lens to Squidoo Groups, this is something else which could create "significant buzz" for your agenda. Want proof? Just take a look at what a little Mom and Pop Thai restaurant has been able to accomplish. Visit Ting's Thai Kitchen. On that page you should see a list of 40+ Squidoo Groups which are showcasing that one lens. Yes, by all means, give other folks the opportunity to showcase your capabilities.

5) While this is not really Web 2.0 innovation, it is definitely reaching out to folks in a practical fashion via the Internet. Combine Skype VOIP Service with Yugma's Desktop Sharing Service. And, to that I would also add Skype's plug-in, Pamela. This program is an automated virtual assistant. Pamela can answer your phone, make phone calls, send faxes, record MP3's for slide show presentations, assist with both blogging and podcasting.

6) Would you like to get on the inside track with the Chamber of Commerce crowd? If the answer is "yes," you need to join Briz.com.

7) Finally, one of the most versatile and down-right gorgeous business networks I have even been privileged to join is TeamCircle. Like so many things in life, you have to experience it to appreciate it.

There's an interesting Twitter application called Twollow that supposedly enables you to follow folks via targeted key words. You get to use five targeted key words for free. The video that is on the site is very enticing. The only problem is there does not appear to be a way to post your key words. Is there something special you need to do to make that happen? If you are able to make Twollow work, please explain how you do that.

I do not know why, but the Twollow system is not signing me in. I do not get any buttons to push or text boxes in which to post key words. All I can do is play the demo once I put my username and password into the system. I have sent a message to Twollow tech support to see what might be wrong.

Here is an advanced Twitter marketing strategy most people don't know about.

When you sign into Twitter.com you can scroll all the way down to the very bottom of the page and click on Search.

On the NEXT screen you are taken to there is a search box. In that box you want to click on Advanced Search.

On that page you will see section called Places. And that is where the magic happens.

Just type in your city and state and Twitter will bring up people in your local area that are "Tweeting" themselves.

Start following all those people and typically they will follow you back.

Instant marketing to people right in your local area.

Stopping by to share this account @Jesus_Christ__ with you all, as I don't know if he/she/they are on your follower/following accounts. Why they did this to me or are targeting certain Twitter's I have no idea, only assume to get a rise out of a reply or something back to them.

As I was going thru my @TeamMom list, I saw that I was posted on their page with the most foul, gross reply to a quote I posted to a mention towards JESUS personal parts! I was so mortified, I blocked them and reported them to both @spam and @support (no reply yet and they are still active).

The page is listed with names, remarks and replies, but not as vile as mine, I assume because my post was a quote by a christian tv evangelist that sparked this. Whatever you decide, I just wanted to pass this on to you here, as I value you as my ryze family and do not want you to be privy to such ridiculous behavior!

Funny, I just read this post by you talking about Adrian Scott on Twitter.

I've checked his Twitter feed more than a few times and have yet to see him mention Ryze. Not that I care, but it sort of just goes to prove my point about Ryze dwindling in quality. I see him post status updates constantly about attending such-and-such tech conference and some new web technology he's learning. But if he really cared about it, he'd put some of that geek-tech passion into Ryze and really get it up to speed.

Just my two cents on that one.

Sort of disheartening eh? It's a bit worthless to follow
someone who does not even MENTION where his money comes
from - his online business, which is many of US.

With regard to Twitter, I have a special request. A Ukrainian missionary friend of mine, Dr. Bob Burbella (who recently celebrated his 80th birthday) just a day ago entered the "Twitter world" for the first time. Believe me, he's a real novice. If you visit the site you will see he readily admits it. He has ONLY ONE follower right now...and that's me. Well, I am here to say the guy deserves MORE.

Soooo...once again, this is Lamar Morgan asking the Ryze community to rise. Step up to the plate and show a little love. Dr. Bob is one of those really great guys. He has a great sense of humor. But, I think it is a minor miracle I ever got him on Twitter. It's unchartered territory for him. He does not understand it and therefore is not sure being on it is a good idea. As you might expect, this is his first step into the social media world. It's a scary thing for some folks. Very intimidating.

Dr. Bob Burbella is not only a missionary to the Ukraine, I believe he is Ukrainian decent. At least, I know speaks the language. (And, here I thought Spanish was a difficult language.) I believe he was born in Canada.

If you would like to follow and tweet Dr. Bob, I feel certain he would be elated. Like me, Dr. Bob is a resident of Coconut Creek, FL. Unlike me, he has a home in Canada in addition to going on missionary trips to the Ukraine to help minister to the needs of people there. I think he needs to be reassured he has done the right thing in having a Twitter account. To follow Dr. Bob, visit HopeMinUkraine.
