Diet fads do not work to get fit and healthy for life. It is important to live a healthy lifestyle; that is the only thing that will help you lose weight and be fit for the rest of your life, not just for a season.

When we engage in fad diets, we slow our metabolism way down. We may lose some weight, but we will gain it all back and then some once we start eating normally again. Fad diets are real bad for all of us, yet so many engage in them because they want fast results. It's best to find a "diet" we can follow for a lifetime which does not exclude any type of food. We need them all: carbs, protein AND fats. The key is to choose good carbs, not processed ones, high-quality protein, and good fats and not take in too many calories from any of the groups.

In addtion to eating right, it's necessary to exercise on a daily basis. Exercise boosts our metabolism and helps us gain muscle, which boost our basal metabolic rate, which in turn helps us burn calories even when we are resting. Make it a habit to exercise every day in some way. Include cardio, weight lifting and stretching.

Supplements are also a necessary element of fitness. We can't get all the nutrients we need from the foods we eat anymore since our land is depleted of nutrients because of all the pesticides that are used, as well as the toxic chemicals that are loaded in the water from OTC and prescription drugs, bleach, motor oil, toxic ingredients in our shampoo and conditioner, etc. We need to supplement our nutrition with high-quality supplements that will help us get the most from our fitness program by optimizing the level of nutrients our bodies recieve; in this way we can have optimal heath, stamina and energy throughout the day, quick recovery from physical stress and a strong immune system that will help us ward off sickness and disease, even in flu season.

In summary, to be fit we must engage in a healthy lifestyle that includes daily exercise, good nutrition and high-quality supplements. All three components are necessary to be fit and healthy for a lifetime, and not just for a season.
