Michael Lemm | | It seems Pingoat is "having issues" again. "Down for maintenance" .... or something like that. The last time this happened it was a few months before they were back up and running.
Since lots of folks use Pingoat for their pinging activity ... you might be scrambing for an alternative. I've recommended and used iPings.com as a good one before .... but it doesn't ping as many directories as Pingoat.
I just found another option I like much better ... works pretty well and gives real time feedback on the actual pinging "time". Just thought I'd share the find:

If anyone has any other thoughts or recommendations for fellow bloggers .... please share them.

Welcome to the net :-)
Pinging is primarily important to notify others (specifically the Search Engines like Google and Yahoo) and directories, of an update or new content on your site/blog. This is probably more often used by bloggers, but any site can benefit by pinging the services (and there are many) when they want to announce new content.
