Scott Wolpow | | I am looking for a Cart that will allow me to sell for a set time. I need to set the start and end days. It also has to limit the quantity sold.
Anything out of the box?Private Reply to Scott Wolpow |

Lindy Asimus | | I'm interested in this too. I thought 1shoppingcart.com had this.
Anyone verify this?

Rodney Collins | | I would have the 'quantity' as an input field in my HTML Form and have a JavaScript function to reset the quanity to whatever is your limit if the buyer has entered a larger quantity.
I would also have a 'hide or show' JavaScript function that would show the [Add to Cart] or the [Buy Now] button between specific dates and times.
This way you can use PayPal or other payment gateways and control the quantity and control the display of the button.
I use PayPal for all payments but I haven't checked their API to see if they can do what you are asking.

Scott Wolpow | | Thanks Rodney, I already wrote out an IA. I wanted something off the shelf. I also wanted to have order tracking etc. Most likely I will use Satchmo project to create it if I do not find something. Private Reply to Scott Wolpow |

Kurt Schweitzer | | Scott,
First, every shopping cart app I've looked at has some sort of inventory or stocking level feature. Set it up so that the visitor can't place an order if the item is out of stock.
I'm most familiar with osCommerce. It has a variety of plug-in modules available. I'm using a coupon module that has both time and quantity features - a coupon can be created that is in effect for only a limited time, can be used by a maximum number of different people, can be applied only to selected items, and can be used a maximum number of times by any one individual.
Somewhere in there is something like what I think you're trying to do. No software writing involved - just install and start configuring coupons.
I hope this helps!

Scott Wolpow | | Kurt, Yes they all have imventory control. That is only part of the requirement. Many have start dates. Coupons are used at checkout and willnot control the item from being displayed. That stops taht from being effective. But thanks.
OSC was nice in it's day. Time for a real new version. They need to say bye bye to PHP4 [embrace secure php5] and really use a Model, View, Controller [MVC] architecture. For a better definition. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model-view-controller.
Trying to customize OSC and CRE is a nightmare. You are stuck with variations on what they give you.
I may hash it out in Magento or Sachtmo Project. Freeway or IXXO cart may also be an easy hack. Though what I want may be just easier to do from scratch.Private Reply to Scott Wolpow |
