I have a client who owns a membership site and she does one video a week that are about 10-15 minutes in length so they are huge files about 1.6 GB is there a faster and easier way to upload such huge files other than Filezilla or CoreFTP?

Doing it this way takes several hours and ties up my computer.

Thanks!

There are faster formats, but you are still limited to your connection.

You may want to use gzip or other posix based compressions or use a torrent to break it down to smaller packets.

Thanks Scott the videos are zipped and still over 1 GB. I have high speed internet and its the fastest connection I can get.

What other format do you suggest?

I'm sorry I don't know what torrent is? I haven't had to deal with large files like this before.

http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/gzip.htm

Torrents will break up the file into smaller packets, normally used for a differant purpose and protocol, but can make it easier and faster to send. FTP expands to pipewidth, but can get bottlenecked.

What type of connection do you have?

I have:

Download speeds up to 8.0 Mbps
Upload speeds up to 600 Kbps

I see now they have faster speeds....but the above is what I have now.

Thanks Scott for your help!

Copy the file to a cd or dvd and go to Kinkos or someother place that has highspeed access.

That's a huge file. I'm surprised members aren't agitated about it too.

Lindy it is a coaching/teaching website, online classes.

They pay her for her expertise, and the video is only 15 minutes long.

Thanks for all the help so far. But now I am running into the problem of none of the wordpress plugin's for video are working on her site. The url etc is correct for the files I use, been playing with this for about 7 hours now and need to know if anyone knows what is good to us.

The file extensions are mp4.

Thanks again for your help, I am wondering if it is because her videos are too big...

Beckah: I'm not the resident guru here but there are a couple of possibilities that come to mind.

A. If you're using Wordpress docs as a web page. ... That could create challenges for you.

B. Try using a different file format

Bestest.

You should be using a Quicktime or MP4 player.
Look at the source code [from the browser] and make sure the url is correct. You may be adding the domain name twice.

Which plugin are you using?
