Teddy Towncrier | | Not clear on your question, Shivali.
However: With a N95 you should be able to get on the net as long as there's an open WiFi signal available.
The signal can be from your own desktop.
If selecting a wireless card or router; Select a unit with the new 'n' standard for maximum reach.
Just make sure your desktop & N95 are password protected.

Alexandre Martins | | hi, Shivaji
in my oppinion, the easiest approach would be to attach a wireless router to your pc and let it manage that adsl connection as a proxy, connecting your nokia to that same network via wifi (dhcp server would designate a new ip for your nokia automaticaly, no need for aditional setups). if you don't have an available router, though, you can try to create a new connection on your control panel/network connections, accepting incoming connections and share the internet connection this way. encrypting the connection itself might be a bit tricky, though. hope it helps. Shivaji Jammalmadugu | | Hi Teddy & Alex,
Thatz a great help.
Is it necessary to connect an additional Wi-Fi modem to the PC or it can be avoided? The PC already has W-LAN and bluetooth features so is the N95. Is there an easier way may be by direct connection over USB that would require less configuration settings?
Am less or zero experienced with setting up of network connections using routers or hubs. Is there a place where detailed step by step instructions are available? Sorry my knowledge is limited.
Thank you very much Geeks.
Cheers,

Teddy Towncrier | | WiFi is not my strong suit but I do know that If Shivali wishes to connect to the internet with his Nokia N95; He's going to need a WiFi connection.
That may need adding a WiFi device of some kind to his existing system or find a stray unlocked signal and use that.
Do a Google for "Hotspot Locator" and find a Hotspot in your area.
If it's a Cafe you'll probably find others there who are logged in and start asking them questions.
If selecting a wireless card or router; Select a unit with the new 'n' standard for maximum reach.
Just make sure your desktop & N95 are password protected.

Alexandre Martins | | Sharing a wired dsl connection throught a wireless adapter attached to that same PC (no wireless router needed) is entirely possible. windows will serve as dhcp/proxy server and supply ip addresses automatically. the link will supply most of the info shivaji needs Private Reply to Alexandre Martins |

Lamar Morgan 954-603-7901 | | I have a Wi-Fi card in my computer. The house where I live has cable Internet access. Therefore, with the Wi-Fi card in my computer, I also have it. It is an unsecured Wi-Fi signal. I don't need a WEP key number or anything like that. I can access the signal using my computer or my Internet Tablet. If you are in a Wi-Fi hot spot and the signal is unsecured, you should not have any trouble accessing it. If the signal is secured, you will need a WEP key number to access the signal. But, once that key is saved to your mobile device, you should be able to access the signal automatically.

Shivaji Jammalmadugu | | Hi Lamar,
Your experience seems to be exactly the situation in my case because my laptop has Wi-Fi as well the N95 mobile. The laptop is connected through wired ADSL. Now please suggest how to configure my laptop to allow the mobile access its internet connection over Wi-Fi or even Bluetooth is fine.
Alternatively is to connect another laptop with Wi-Fi on board to the main laptop with ADSL connection to share the internet. This could be easier I guess but for less techie like me it is as well rocket science :-)

Aalap Sharma | | Hi Shivaji,
This is pretty simple and I do this everyday.
Please refer to the below given article from microsoft: "Set up a wireless network without a router"
http://url-zip.com/wifi
This is a step by step guide and will be helpful to all.
After you setup the network, start wifi scanning in your mobile phone. Connect to your PC network and provide the credentials to connect and start using internet.
Cheers, Aalap :)

Aalap Sharma | | Hi Shivaji,
It was step by step guide with screen shots and if that's not working then you need some network guy to do what you want.
Take help of someone around you who knows a little bit about networking concepts.
I'll try to spare some time this weekend and we'll get together through TeamViewer and do this. I'll send you message.
Cheers, Aalap

Aalap Sharma | | Please check the following points:
a. You should not be connected to any other wireless network b. After setting up the network, your host PC should connect to the newly created network c. Open Network Connections window - You should be able to see "Local Area Connection" icon and "Wireless Connection" icon - Press Shift button and Select LAN and Wireless connection - Right click on selected icons - Select "Bridge Connections". - Now scan wireless networks in you mobile and connect to the network you created above.
Let me know the results.
Cheers, Aalap
