Savita Govilkar | | Each society needs everyone. Some roles may be much more philanpthropic in nature some roles are not. Some roles are glamerous and hence attract media attention much more more than others. Some roles are benefitted more as the target audience may be richer.Since ours is democratic country and I do not see anything illegal so far with what Sachin has done. He is exceptional cricketer. In some aspects he probably lacks a little in comparison to other cricketers(who may not be as successfull as Sachin and there fore may have lacked media attention a little).
Sachin can make choices for himself , specially whether to be political, whether to enter politics at all and when etc.)I would have been his fan even if he was not Marathi.I like Ganguli ,Dravid and Gavaskar and many other cricketers(some of them due to cricket some of them due to their other qualities).If tomorrow Sachin declares that he likes tandoori or goan food more than Marathi food, I will still like him.
We cabnnot blame Sachin , or love of the masses for Cricket or Cricket itself , just because Media is providing him disproportionate attention(as per the views of some of us).
We cannot base our views from info we get from the immaturity of Medias.
The real problem is that in abscence of good mature media coverage whom do we trust?
We are forced to used our own judgements to get close to facts(?).

Want to reassure you that silence is not deliberate and not meant as an affront to you...people like me are more confused by unnecessary - unexpected controversy.. hence the dumbfounded silence!
I understand your point of view but also understand Raju Parulekar's. Still there is no contradiction.
Sachin is GTREATEST Cricketer ( actually batsman ! ) , but I admire him more as a balanced person who was able to digest greatest success without affecting ego !
One should give not more than appropriate importance to a batsman's opinion to a very serious social issue even if it is coming from a popular , much loved batsman. Balasaheb Thakare & even Raju Parulekar need not have spent so much ire on a irrelevant populist utterances of a famous ( & uninformed) batsman !
