QUIT SMOKING - RECOVERY PROGRAM


The "QUIT SMOKING - RECOVERY PROGRAM" Aims to assits smokers to recover from nicotine.It is being conducted by professionals working in the field of addiction and health who have also been smokers themselves and have gone through the process of recovery using the 12 step approach.
The program takes a holistic approach (covering mind body and spirit) which helps addicted smokers stop smoking and make the lifestyle changes which will reinforce the choice to remain free of smoking and lead a better quality of life. Based on the Twelve Step philosophy, this intense, three-day program provides the information and inspiration to live nicotine-free.
The concept is to hold the program away from the smoker's everyday environment and offer a safe setting with fitness activities, group support, natural therapeutics like massage, yoga, acupuncture relaxation and meditation, and healthy meals. A life enhancing experience is provided so that the client deals with this lifestyle change in a positive manner. Good memories are created from the experience.
The program also covers
· A wide-range of beliefs and attitudes smokers have about smoking and health which have hampered their ability to break free of cigarettes.
· Facts which reinforce the benefits of breaking free of smoking for body, mind and spirit.
· An importance of paying attention to the concept of a "Higher Power" which can be understood in either religious or secular terms.
· Includes building up the motivation to become and remain free, overcoming obstacles, understanding the nature of addiction to nicotine, preparing carefully for the break free day, and finally, making the break.
· Information on: the nature of cravings and urges, understanding possible withdrawal symptoms, benefits of certain foods and liquids.
· Relaxation methods, exercise options, and specific rules to keep from gaining weight.
· The medical aspects of smoking once the smoker is free of smoking to be able to understand the dangers of smoking, and to rejoice in the major damage control that has been initiated.
· Avoiding relapse especially during the more vulnerable period and learning to take positive actions to take to remain nicotine free.

· Why substitution is not the answer.
There will be one pre program group meetings for the clients to start their planning and preparation and to familiarize themselves with all aspects of the program. These will be held one to two weeks prior to the Goa program and will take about three hours each.

The program starts in GOA on the 22nd of Jan Evening and ends on the 26th of Jan afternoon.
Program Fees: Rs 16,000/-

The program fees include: four nights stay on room sharing basis, all meals for four nights and three days and cost of therapeutics planned by the program e.g. Yoga, acupuncture and massage. Program fees do not include transport cost to Goa or to the venue.
Number of seats per batch is limited to ensure that every participant is given the space, time and effort for recovery.
