I have been gone from Ryze for a long time. I know some of you here although I am new to this network. Whether you remember me or not, here is my story...
I was a caregiver for my elderly parents for many years. Last year my parents (mom age 83 and dad age 91) moved out of my house when they had the opportunity to live right across the street from my sister and niece in a house of their own while my great-niece moved in with them. So now they had 3 family members to care for them instead of just me. I was very sad to see them go but understood why they chose to leave. Unfortunately, as soon as they left my father's alzheimers got worse and so did his recurring strokes. I spent several months traveling back and forth to spend time with him.
In the meantime, my husband lost his job (and I lost my car since it was his company car), we lost our house and had to file for bankruptcy.
But you know what? I didn't care about any of those things. My father was dying and everything, including my business, went on the back burner. I have always been a daddy's girl so my father's illness has to be the hardest thing that I've ever experienced. My father got worse and worse as time went by and he passed away late last fall. My parents had been married for 50 years. As you can imagine this was extremely difficult for my mom. I spent several more months with mom. Now she is out of her depression and as her heart mends I still travel once or twice a month to visit her. Thankfully, she is less than 4 hours away.
My husband is still out of a job but God has been good and we have not been without necessities. He even found us a wonderful place to rent with great landlords. Miraculously we are somehow able to pay our immediate bills each month - God keeps finding ways and sending us wonderful people in our lives. We are much happier in our rental even though it is smaller. It is perfect for us and the kids bedrooms are bigger so they are not complaining!
During these stressful times I even lost sight of my health and gained back some weight. But I am now back on track with my healthy eating and exercise and feel wonderful. I am confident that I'll be back to my goal in only a couple of months.
This was my year last year. A stressful and humbling time for all of us. Yet we are so grateful to have each other and I am very grateful that the Lord let my father be around for 91 years. I started working on my business again and in a few short weeks I was back at the same level I was before all the stuff happened last year.
I am happy to be back here and look forward to connecting with old and new friends alike.

Welcome back and thank you for sharing with all of us that emotional yet motivational story.
The moral of the story that I gathered.. If I were to loose my home, job and everything. This would be a great loss to me, but compared to the loss of a beloved family member - I could see how there would be no comparison.
To see how you can get yourself, life and health back on track is not only motivation but inspiration to everyone.
