Senthil Nathan | | Now the prices of Petrol, Diesel, Kerosene and LPG is raised along with the inflation....Then what next...
All the economists are hailing this act as a great economic reform...Have they forgotten the common man who is going to bear the extra burden...
Why not the government form a methodology to stop passing the subsidy in the Petroleum products to the car owners and for other luxury purpose. Why not had a cap on the LPG like one for a month under subsidised rate and the next cylinder in the same month means extra cost. Is this so tough to implement considering the loss the Oil companies are going through....
If Iam not wrong this is the Govt which had raised the petroleum prices so many times in a year and more importantly the LPG rates. LPG rates are being increased by 30s ranges..

SOEB FATEHI | | good that prices are up.
this shall curb consumption if the economy can not absorb it.
if consumption does not decrease that is proof of the economy having the ability to absorb the increase.
either way the public exchequer will benefit from the withdrawal of subsidies and the budget deficit shall be reduced.Private Reply to SOEB FATEHI |

Pudumai Balakrishnan Balakrishnan | | if government stops free tv, other free bees the cost may come down.but the benefits received by companies ( like free tv orders)may go down resulting in production cut, pay cut etc., Both our government and public life has caught in a quick sand. we are luckily maanging for only one reason: our country is a big and potential country!Private Reply to Pudumai Balakrishnan Balakrishnan |

padmanabhan ramasubban | | We need to look at the huge subsidy govt is proviidng on LPG for domestic use and on petrol/diesel.
When the oil prices are going up there is a urgent need to curb consumption and reduce the burden on oil payment due to crude prices determined by market forces.
Diesel and petrol consumption should be regulated and pricew of same should be determined by market forces .

SOEB FATEHI | | reduce consumption by improved efficiency in operations, logistics and upgraded technologies . . . .
regulate consumption by offering incentives to use of efficient technologies and . . . .
regulate consumption by improving and increasing availability of public mass transportation systems . . . .
regulate consumption by staggering work hours in different localities in the same city . . . .
regulate consumption by tightening development rules for all new and refurbished buildings to create energy efficiencies . . . . offer incentives and reliefs in property taxes and levies to green buildings . . . .
regulate consumption by reduce public parking spaces to 50% and free up the space for parking and operating buses and metrorail . . . make public parking spaces expensive to use by collection of higher parking toll . . . .
allow the price to self stabilize with market forces . . . thereby force efficiency in management and operations on petroleum companies . . . .
those who really find petrol expensive even after adopting a more efficient lifestyle - simply spend less time arguing about silly, irrelevant and inconsequential things on internet forums and work harder to drive up personal income and thereby contribute to the GDP growth better!
Jai Hind!

padmanabhan ramasubban | | I would add that public transport system should be made more popular like mumbai rather than travelling by personal limos.
Car/van/bus/minibus pooling should also be encouraged for saving fuel and better utilisation of vehicles.
Phase out fuel guzzling old vehicles and there is urgent need of electric vehicles with better technology through more R& D.
Encourage use of bicycles for distances that are less than 8km. Private Reply to padmanabhan ramasubban |
