Need A Little Help Please …. Testing Google Page Ranking TheoryViews: 656

I’m testing out a theory concerning the latest Google Algorithm. Basically … although content and relevant back links are still important …. It appears that activity is getting a very high weighting in the rank of websites. Meaning …. level of traffic, time spent on your site by visitors, and visitor interaction with your site are playing a large role in page rank (PR) and where you show up in searches. Much more so than in the past. This boils down to traffic amount, duration, and activity.

To test this theory out please do the following:

1. Visit this website ….. http://DS3-Bandwidth.com

2. Minimize and go on doing whatever you were doing.

3. Reopen the site and click on any tab at the top.

4. Repeat step 2 and 3 a couple times.

5. Close out the site and go about your business.

6. Post the total time and number of pages visited here as a reply.

I’ll let you all know how it goes. I read this in a few SEO discussion forums and I think there’s merit to the theory. I’ve noticed my site placement fluctuate some with visitor activity. But I never measured it to prove one way or the other what I thought might be happening. With the discussions I’ve read I want to test this out.

Thanks for your assistance with this.

I messed up. I should have been clearer. I'm looking for "impact" on page placement .... not necessarily page rank.

It's affect of time on site and bounce rate I'm really interested in. Frankly ... I am seeing a correlation. As much as a 2 page swing (up) in page placement. But .... the sample size isn't big enough yet to draw definitve conclusions. It just looks like there is an impact ... so far.
