There were 3 Frog's on a log floating down the stream and one decided to jump off. How many Frog's were left floating on the log?

I'd say the answer is "three".

Deciding to jump off and taking ACTION are two different things, right?

LOL.

My boys (19 and 22) disagree.
2 frogs.
Because frogs are not like people, when they decide to do something they just do it, take immediate action. No thought involved. When a frog decides to jump, it jumps.

Their younger sister (17) says 0 frogs, because the one jumping off rocks the log, knocking the other 2 into the water also. Either that or they follow like lemmings. Once 1 jumps off the others are gone too.

Course I've seen same boys do things without thinking. Ex. checking out a college with one son, he took his ripstick with him. Needed to find housing office. He got on his ripstick and took off. Wrong direction. He had no idea where housing was. Or his brother down a steep hill on roller blades forgetting brakes wouldn't work at that speed, nor considering what he'd hit at the bottom of the hill. When they decide to do things, they just do them. Challenge is getting them to think if it is a wise choice before making the decision. At least they are not afraid of making a mistake, and don't often repeat the same ones.

Now their sister, if she was on the log, the only way to get her off the log is if she decided to jump off. Otherwise she'd be clinging on with pure stubbornness, defending her piece of log to the death.

Well, if we want to be literal, we can argue that frogs don't actually "decide" anything either. They operate on instinct and a very primitive brain. :)

Then again, a lot of humans are like that, too. :)

I've also been told this whole scenario depends on the sex of the Frog...If it was female it never did really make up it's mind. If it's male it jumped off because Men tend to just take action then decide later how to deal with the consequences...or just ignore the consequences and go watch football. LOL!
