You may wish for success, a new fancy car or transform into a better you. But what good is wishing when you can make these things come true. A good motivator is to set goals or create New Year resolutions, here are some good ones to get your 2014 started on the right foot.

1) Get fit

A frequent New Yearís resolution is to get into shape. After a month of Christmas lunches, dinners and celebration itís time to be a little bit more healthy. Nothing gives you more confidence or makes you feel better by feeling good about yourself. Start by introducing a new workout routine, join a gym or start a little healthier. Starting a new sport can be a great way to introduce more exercise into your life.

2) Travel more

You may wish to get away more and see new things. This requires saving some money and a little planning. You might need to cut back on a few luxuries to help you save for your holiday. Try shopping for dresses online instead of in store to get the latest deals and promotions which can save you money. Eat out less often and cook at home. These are great ways to save a little more cash each month.

3) Get the job you want or get a promotion If youíre looking to climb the career ladder itís a good start to weigh up your strengths and weakness of the previous year. How can you learn from these experiences. Once youíve worked out this you can start planning goals for the New Year, this includes taking on more responsibility at work, proving yourself, working on your management skills or reading up on a certain area of expertise to gain more knowledge. It all starts with self-improvement.

4) Kicking a bad habit Ė Quit smoking

This habit can be hard to kick, it can the hardest thing to do. However, this is affects your health, smoking not only affects your health but those around you too, so the struggle is worth the result. Pick a time when you will be the least stressed, choosing a time with high-pressure will only maximise the difficulty to quit. There are many options to help quit whether itís nicotine patches, gum, inhalers or hypnosis. Get your friends and family to give you moral support, positive energy from those around you will only enhance your need to quit.

5) To be more relaxed Everyday you are exposed to high levels of stress, whether it is career, pressures from family or the environment. If you feel stress has been a high impact on your life and especially your health itís time to reduce it. Taking up relaxing activities such as yoga, meditation or going for a massage can reduce the levels of stress considerably. Freeing the mind of worrying thoughts and putting a reset is a good way to go. If youíre a more active person try taking up martial arts such as taekwondo can help get rid of the stress through punches and kicks and getting fit in the process.

ē Get others around you to support/motivate you, positive influence from others around you will give you strength to complete your goal.

ē Create positive reminders at home to keep you motivated, write notes and stick them on your desk, mirror or fridge to remind you of your goal.

ē Do it with a friend, you can motivate each other to complete your goals. If youíre getting into shape you can go to the gym together. But be wary that although it can be a positive impact it works both ways, if one of you suddenly loses momentum it make the other feel less motivated too. Work hard to keep motivated so no one falls back.

ē Stay positive, although there will be times where you feel your goal is impossible remember how great it will feel once you accomplish it.
