I thought it was kind of silly that this was making news in 2004, as they've been trying to rename the mishmash of Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, and Boerum Hill for the three years that I've lived in Brooklyn. The fact that it hasn't really caught on yet might be a clue. Don't even get me started on CoWaDi. It think it's all a bit focacta.

South Brooklyn is just that, south brooklyn, downtown brooklyn, city of brooklyn, cobble hill, {my personal favorite}, and that is it! No more!
Who cares where carroll gardens begins or where boerum hill is located. These are historic neighborhoods not the hip new factory block revivals, of the old industrial sectors of the city.
Let it be newbies or go to noho-soho-dumbo!

Earl I so agree with you. The reason why I love Brooklyn is because it had not become part of that whole it's tres chic to live in this area, etc. etc. But now, I guess since Manhattan is overpriced, they are moving it out our way. They need to keep all that on the other side of the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges.

Disgruntled in Crown Heights.
