Why don't you look at some of the great resources available at www.sourceforge.net? Just go to the site and do a search on CRM. Most of the software there is available for free or for a reasonable license fee. I would personally recommend:
1. Compiere (ERP+CRM) The only catch is that Compiere is currently based on the Oracle database, so you would need to buy the license for that. Otherwise it is an excellent piece of software.
2. SugarCRM This great piece of software has been getting rave reviews the world over - and it’s FREE!! The most current (production/ stable) version is 2.0.
There are other CRM softwares available at www.sourceforge.net, as I said earlier, just do a search and evaluate which software suits you best.
In my previous company we were using Act! and in my current one we use SugarCRM. I can tell you the difference (between the two) in collaborative features is enormous! I guess Interact Commerce (the makers of Act!) would rather you purchased its bigger brother Sales Logix if you would like a better feature set :-)
Hope this has been of some help.
Cheers!
