Hi all...

I'm in a bit of a situation and I know you can help.

I was referred some business by a colleague. His colleague needed help with web video. The technology he was currently using was only visible by a small portion of his visitors and he wanted to make it visible to all. I immediately knew what was required and told him PART of the story on the phone. The other part, required a few minutes of research (literally).

Well, I have the information I need to take him out of his misery but, just realized that I neglected to:

1) see if he's willing to pay for my time to find the information
2) tell him what my technology research rates are and an estimate on the time

So, now what do I say when I call him back (as I promised I would)?

I don't want to sound like, "I've got the solution in my hand and it's cheaper than what I oringally thought - but first pay me my research fee." It's almost like I'm holding his information hostage...that doesn't resonate with me.

Or do, I give him the information and send him a bill? But, he's not obligated to pay for that as there's no 'contract' per se.

All I can say is that I'm getting ready to go to a conference and I guess I was distracted because this is not at ALL like me to not cross my t's and dot my i's.

Yikes! Please, help!

Thanks in advance from la-la land... :)
