Dessert is the only part of the meal with a fixed wine rule: The sweetness of the wine must be equal to or, preferably, greater than that of the dessert. Otherwise the wine will taste sour in comparison. This means that fruit, cheese and custard desserts are usually tastier with dessert wines than very sweet cakes, pies or frostings
Chocolate desserts (both bitter and sweet) go best with wines of similar profiles such as port. Nut desserts are delicious with aged dessert wines, while exotic Muscats and late harvest Rieslings can be enjoyed before, after, or even in place of similar golden, honeyed desserts
However, I must admit Chocolate is one thing that is very difficult to match!
Enjoy!
Hope this helps

The usual recommendations for pairing wine and chocolate are about as general as the "red wine with red meat, white wine with white meat and fish" guidelines. There are exceptions to these guidelines that can be quite surprisingly delicious if you let yourself be experimental.
The general rule that the wine should be sweeter than the dessert usually does not fail, but you can often find some unusual desserts (I know of some that include bacon) that might fare well with a non-dessert wine. Furthermore, like most anything, it's all a matter of personal taste -- if you like it then it's good for you.
Here's a more specific guideline for pairing wine and chocolate -- but not chocolates (confections) or chocolate desserts:
If you have a complex varietal wine, you want to pair it with a blended chocolate. The converse is also true: If you have a complex varietal chocolate you want to pair it with a blended wine.
The theory (and practice) is that varietal wines and chocolates tend to have complex flavor profiles that change over time in the mouth. If BOTH the wine and the chocolate are changing flavors in your mouth at the same time then it's pretty much certain that at some point the flavors will clash. Blending takes the edges off the varietal flavors leaving one flavor note to predominate.
On the wine label, look for notes that list many different flavors. On the chocolate label, the smaller the description of the origin, the more the varietal character of the beans will be expressed: single-plantation chocolates like Michel Cluizel's Hacienda los Ancones (which has, among other flavors, green olive notes) will be hard to match with a complex varietal wine.
There are other organoleptic characteristics that need to be considered, to be sure, such as astringency. A tannic wine should probably be paired with a smooth, "buttery" chocolate not a chocolate that itself has a lot tannins and thus astringency.
Specific pairings are up to you .. the research can be a lot of fun!
