WE CARE FOR CHENNAI is born out of the need that there is a big scope for Internet-abled people of Chennai to come out of their Computer-Desks and use their digital knowledge to be Change Agents in saving Chennai from peril.

WE CARE FOR CHENNAI aims at making a perfect symbiotic relationship between online activism and real time hands-on work that could give a feeling fullness in using digital knowledge for the simple betterment of life in Chennai.

WATER, ROADS, TREES, etc. cry for incredible attention in Chennai. The ecological degradation is alarmingly high in Chennai. The most devastating and impending danger that is awaiting CHENNAI is the possibility of it becoming a kind of desert. Leaving Water Management to authorities in power and in position alone cannot save us from peril. The children of Chennai today face an unenviable life here tomorrow, courtesy the increasing Water crisis.

It requires you and me to put our heads together and find outwhatever that we can do to arrest the degradation.

WE CARE FOR CHENNAI is meeting on Sunday, (15th May 2005) at 10 AM at Woodlands Drive-in. Pl turn up and participate.

Dear Govind:

It is a great initiative that will help putting thoughts into action.

For some of us, who are miles away and cannot be physically present to be a part of this, we are definitely confident that the gathering will come out with solutions to some of Chennai's recurring problems.

Keep us posted and let us know how we could contribute from here.

Good Luck and Cheers,
Praveena

Hello Praveena,

Thanks for your encouragement from being miles away. It is those who are far from the native land, who have a greater affinity and an urge to do whatever possible to their land to which they belong. The contribution of NRIs in different spheres of Indian economic and social development is very great. The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) is one such organization of NRIs, which has been doing a tremendous job, promoting innnovation and enterpreneurial spirit.

Let us hope that WCFC grows to that stature soon, when it can ensure the participation of Chennai diaspora.

Hi Govind:

I definitely agree with you- I guess we start to miss the comforts of homeland only when in another land and i guess the affinity stems from there.

For WCFC, this is jus the beginning- I'm sure it will soon attract active participation from people in different parts of the globe. After-all, Chennai is dear to so many of us.
