Free Marketing Software Beta Test Invitation for IMTools MembersViews: 921

Garland Coulson
I just finished developing some new software to help people with researching and marketing on the Internet and I would like to invite IMTools members to help me beta test it.

The software is called the "Free Traffic Bar" and is a toolbar that you add to Internet Explorer or FireFox. This toolbar includes a place where members can place an advertising headline 1,000s of other eventual toolbar users. You generate credits while you surf the web. When you invite others, you get additional credits when they sign up and when they surf the web.

In addition to the traffic exchange feature, the toolbar has over 70 search/research tools and links to over 50 of the best marketing tools I've found on the web.

When you sign up, you get 500 free advertising credits. During the beta test, your ads will be shown to other beta testers like yourselves, who are my colleagues, clients and readers. So your ad will be shown to real people duing th ebeta test. After the beta test, I will credit you an additional 500 credits plus a bonus for helping with the test. You also get to keep any credits you've generated during the test.

If you are interested in participating in the beta test, you can sign up at
http://www.freetrafficbar.com

Thank you for your help!

Hi Garland,

Why would someone who is not marketing something install this on their browser?

Usually people are downloading tools to un-install things like this.

Can you please share with us why you think people would want this toolbar - what benefit does it provide to the end-user?

Craig,

You hit the nail right on the head. These programs like Traffic Blaze and dozens of others are nothing but people who want to promote their programs watching other people's programs. They DO NOT reach the true target market. Those that really make out are those that develop the software program or purchase the source code and promote it as their own making themselves instant gurus such as that crook, Mike Chang. You can rest assured you will be watching ALL of their programs.

The biggest mistake people make is that just because they have a website they think they have to market it on the Internet and end up marketing to others trying to promote their own programs. A website is no different than a brick and mortar store on the street corner -- it just happens to be located in cyberspace. Nowhere is it written that you must advertise on the Internet to generate traffic to your website. My greatest successes on the Internet have resulted from traditional promotional efforts such as ads, press releases, etc., targeted at my market.

Hi Craig,

First off, the toolbar IS meant primarily for people who are interested in marketing on the Internet.  Given that the topic in this network is Internet Marketing Tools, chances are most of the members here are marketing a web site or an affiliate program or MLM link.

A competing toolbar with just ads and NO research features has over 50,000 members so obviously the interest in this type of marketing is immense.

Someone who isn't interested in marketing online might still be interested in the search and research capabilities of the toolbar since it gives them quick access to over 70 search/research tools including people search, reference search, image search, audio search, video search, a wider range of search engines and much more.  And they could always donate their ad credits to their favorite charity just by putting in the url to their favorite charity web site.  I have a short free video showing how the search/research tools work on the site

I use this as my main research tool and it is much more efficient than my old methods.  And, as a professional time management trainer, my old methods were pretty efficient.

While non-marketers might find it useful and are welcome to use it, it is NOT targeted at people with no interest in marketing online.  Marketers and others are less likely to uninstall this than competing toolbars because it has useful capabilities and is not just an advertising exchange.

Hi Gary,

You make some great points.  Targeted traffic is much better than untargeted traffic.  I am dealing with this in a number of ways in the Free Traffic Bar:

Video tour of the Free Traffic and Search Tool Bar

Take the Free Traffic Bar
 video tour!

1.  The system tracks how many people are clicking on their ads so they can see which ads work best for the the target market they are reaching through the traffic bar.

2.  In our forums area, I am putting in tools and help to teach users how to write better ads that get better clickthroughs.  For example, I added a link to the free headline analyzer that some members here liked.  Other Free Traffic Bar members will also help each other with ideas on how to write better ads.

3.  Future versions of the Free Traffic Bar will add better targeting features such as

    a)  Letting people choose the category of ads they want to see.  For example, if members choose that they would like to see ads relating to art, travel and home decorating, they would only be shown ads in those categories.  That way the members of the system would know that their ads would be going only to interested people.

    b)  Geotargeting where you can target your ads by country.

I am in this for the long haul and I, with the help of my members and partners, intend to make the Free Traffic Bar a indispensable marketing resource for its members. I have a lot of other "wish list" features we are working on as well and the Free Traffic Bar will just get better and better.

Like you, my greatest successes have come from efforts targeted at my target market rather than unfocused marketing.  However, in my own experience, the targeted Internet marketing techniques have had a better return on investment than the traditional marketing methods I used.

Well I for one have installed it and promoting it to my friends.

I do glimps at the ads while I browse and I know if any were something I was in the market for I would click on them first rather than do a search.

Anyway - as I tell my networking friends - nothing ventured, nothing gained. If I even get one sale from something - it's worth it!

Garland:

I went on the tour of the Free Marketing Software. How long are you going to open use of this software up to beta testers?
Are you going to change the name of the program at some point and charge a fee for its use? Or, is it always going to be free due to the marketing exposure it provides for so many people?

Also, what is the reaons for giving points? Please explain.

Hello Lamar,

The Free Traffic Bar is, and always will be, free.  In the next phase I will offer a paid membership that will offer additional benefits, but the free version will stay free.  People can purchase additional ad credits as well.  This is because it will have a greater reach as an advertising system if it has more users and it will have more users by being free.

The beta test is to work the bugs out of the system.  The system will continually take new users, but beta testers receive additional free credits for helping me test it.  I expect to close the beta test and launch fully on Sept 15.  The service will never close during this period, just that new signups only get the 500 bonus credits and not the additional beta test credits.

There are no "points."  People earn advertising credits as they browse and they use these credits to show their ad on other members toolbars.  The cost to show 1 ad is 1 credit.  People earn additional credits when they invite others and build a "downline" up to 10 levels deep.

Hi Garland,

I am having a lot of fun with this tool. Thanks again.
Have even had a couple of friends download - so it is getting even more fun.

Had the first question on Mozilla, however, and am wondering if you have plans to launch a tool bar for Mozilla users - apparently Firefox was tried but doesn't work.

Thanks again!

Theresa

Hi Theresa,

I do have the capability of producing a Mozilla version of the Free Traffic Barr, but it won't auto update as I do new versions - members would have to uninstall and reinstall as I add new features.  I am also concerned about the extra time in maintaining and supporting a third toolbar given that Mozilla's installed base is far lower than FireFox or Explorer.

I think I am not ready to commit to a third toolbar at this point, but I may reconsider this in a few months after I have the marketing program for the toolbar humming along.

Glad you like it and that you are inviting others and building your downline!

Thanks Garland,

Andy was excited to get a chance to "hear from the master" as well. It is an awesome tool and I wish you tremendous luck with the marketing.

It really is a great resource.

Garland,

The toolbar seems to work much better than Instant Buzz. There is a message that says one more banner needs to be shown to activate account, this is unclear to me.
